P90x Day 29 - Triceps Chest & Shoulders

Okay so this is the start of my "lean/doubles" phase 2. I woke up and did a 30 minute step aerobics cardio session and then in the early evening did my p90x. I loved this disc. I suck at push ups and can't do a real 1 handed push up, but I enjoyed this workout! I don't have a whole lot ot say but here are my stats as of yesterday's weight and measurements, keeping in mind on day 1 i had the incorrect height listed on my omron bf monitor, so i dropped my bf% significantly in my opinion.

Day 1 Day 28
Weight: 167.2 lbs 164.2
Body Fat%: 32.8 31.3%
waist: 32" 30"
abdomen: 38" 36-37" (it fluctuates)
hips: 42.5" 41"
chest: 35 1/2" didn't check lol
L. Thigh: 25 1/2" 24"
Right Thigh: 25 1/2" 24"
Left arm: 12 1/2" 11 1/2"
Right arm: 12 1/2" 11 1/2"

Now if i did my bodyfat at 5'3 3/4 height my bf% was 30.8. this is good stuff :D

P90x Phase 2 Commences

I know I haven't been bogging the last severa days...maybe even a week. I am still in this. I substituted cardioX with Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism this week. I ordered a new Yoga dvd too, 90 minutes just seems to be too much at one time for the type of workout. I am going to start my lean version of "doubles" tomorrow. I will add 30-60 minutes of cardio on my weights days. I have to take pictures tomorrow that I will hyave for my "28 day" pics. So far, when i compare day 1 with day 28, I am pretty pleased even though my weight isn't that far down as I expected. I really expected to lose 8-10 lbs...I may have lost 4 lbs, but my body fat % has gone down quite a bit and I have good comparable measurements, so on that note I know I progressed. I am going to stick to a 2200 calorie diet and see how that goes this week. I know I will see a lot of fluid retention as I will be adding weights again and it's just something my body loves to do.

At any rate, I am looking forward to seeing what this 30 day brings. I am going to be child free during the days,, so maybe the lack of stress and the more time I have taking care of me will help me shed some weight too. I hope to lose 10 lbs this month or definitely be able to wear my size 10's no questions about it.

P90x Day 19 of 90 - Subbed Kenpo

I was very sore today from yesterday's workout, but of course I can't quit. I pushed myself to workout. I skipped Kenpo because although I like it, it's not as much of a calorie burner as I would like it to be. I did Turbo Jam Get on the Ball instead. I was able to do all the moves without modifying (which was difficult before) and it just felt good to do a little 'kickboxing' with core and lower body and shoulders. I had to do stretch X (bits and pieces but about 20 minutes worth) cause my hamstrings and booty are just so sore! I am going to do bits and pieces again tomorrow, but nothing else.

I am looking forward to recovery week and I HOPE that phase II brings on better #'s. I swore i'd end in the 150's. There is still a chance, but unless i lose 4 lbs this recovery week, it ain't happening. I will accept another 1/2" in places and bf% though over the scale #.

So i burned 502 calories and I feel good.

Let's keep it going!

P90x Day 18 of 90 - Legs & back (remix)

Soooo today I had to skip the 'back' portions of the exercises as my upper body is still a little sore (i will do them tomorrow). I did the legs and even completed a move (the exaggerated lunges) that I never was able to do, due to my toes...so yeah they are a best. Oh and i skip the debbie siebers i don't likey. I went on and put my Exhale Spa Core Fusion Body Sculpt dvd on to do my thighs and my glutes and then my core (in place of ab ripper x, which I will do tomorrow if I decide not to do my get on the ball dvd). This is one heck of a workout! I burned more on this than anything and I can't wait to get further!!!

I burned 493 calories today (300 with legs on P90x). I had a ton of interruptions today with the kids but i did keep my HR up so I am just fine and happy with that. Tomorrow is a new day.

i weighed 163.4 today. Let's see if i can keep going and drop bf% too.

P90x Planning my Recovery week ahead!

I did yoga today, nothing special, but I am doing better. I still don't like doing core. I may do it sometimes but not today. I worked on my chest with resistance bands as I want to build my chest's perkiness (if it is even possible anymore) but I don't want to add a full p90x disc into the equation.

I received my Exhale Spa Core Fusion Body Sculpt and I am really excited to start it. I am seeing where the reviews (about 55) gave 5 stars, 99% of the reviewers. I watched the video and I am definitely sure this is a great addition to my regimen. I am feeling like I am stuck, not necessarily with p90x but for the last few months. I refuse to let this be a repeat of last year. The difference is, I am REALLY trying. I wasn't going to the gym last summer and when i did, I didn't put forth the effort to count calories or workout hard. Now i am working out harder than ever and counting my calories and balancing everything and I just can't seem to lose any darn weight. I am faithful and i am hopeful i see changes next month.

P90x day 17 of 90 - Shoulders & arms/Ab ripper X

So today I actually wrote down my reps. DH told me i needed to start doing that and well since I wanna 'bring it' during phase two (which is in 2 weeks) I need to have something to compare it to. I am glad I did because I am definitely feeling the burn and that's what I need. I want my arms to be smoking (along with the rest of my body) but seeing as though i have no visible blemishes on my arms i.e. excessive stretch marks, then they are gonna be my main feature LOL.

I finished up shoulders & arms, skipped the cool down and went into ab ripperX. I left the first segment burning 305 cals and i ended up with 403 after ab ripper. I do confess to skipping part of the leg climb, not because I can't do it, it just sucks and is boring and maybe i do it wrong so i don't feel it all the way, BUT i did do about 30 mason crunches (i think that's the name) that's my first ever!!!

I figure i need to burn some extra calories with good old cardio, so i added about 10 minutes of the biggest loser cardio max, part 2 (jillian's segment). I ended with the yoga cool down and some arm stretches. I am feeling pretty good all the way around. I burned a total of 498 calories today.

P90x - Day 16 of 90 - Plyometrics

Okay so like i said before I switched cardio out and did plyometrics instead. What a workout! I knew it would be. I had to do mostly modified moves and i still burned 530 calories! I already feel my body changing or going thru the 'motions'. I woke up feeling icky, i kept sneezing and my nose kept running. I was able to combat that during plyo and then it resumed when i was done LOL

Otherwise i ate about 2000 calories again today and my HR was as high as 183 and averaged 159 (i think) i don't have my watch near me today and i surely don't feel like getting it.

I tried the p90x shrimp stir fry...i gives it two thumbs up!!!

Keep pressing play, i know i am!

P90x - Day 15 of 90 - Core Synergistics

Well before i started my workout, about an hour before, i ate a good 6 oz of chicken breast with broccoli, bell peppers and a mushroom (yes ONE mushroom lol). I got the kids to take a nap and started my workout. I still don't care for this workout but i know it's working and well I guess i don't like many workouts but I am in this to win it, so I suck it up and do my best. I realized that I wasn't doing the banana poses right this whole time, so now that I did it right, i FEEEELS it...I know i'll start seeing improvement.

I am looking forward to recovery week next week and I hope my new dvd comes in. It's called something something "core fusion" it has 5 stars from all the reviewers and I watched it and it looks great. I am going to replace one yoga day with that dvd as it's a mix of yoga and core movements. I have taken the liberty to up my calories a little bit. I am shooting for 2000 calories. this is in between what the beachbody.com website and p90x nutrition guide have set out for me. I I had a cheat day yesterday and well i took in too much sodium, so I did some research and now I see that dandelion tea is great for liver & kidney function as well as water retention. I had one cup already, not the best tasting, but if you like black coffee, i can see a coffe e lover liking it plain. I had to gulp it down. I will try honey perhaps next time.

So onto my stats....I burned a little less today as I skipped the last part of the bonus (and the plank to chaturanga bonus) instead of the PtoC i did plank holds. I did exert more effort on my towel jumps and the tire runs.....I can prove that as my HR maxed this time 183 and my average was a little lower...by one so it was 146. I burned 435 calories. Oh and tomorrow I will be subbing Cardio X for plyometrics....ooooooh wish me LUCK

P90x Day 13 of 90 - Kenpo X

Okay, honestly I don't know what day I am on LOL. I have to renumber these things cause anyone who knows me knows I am bad with numbers and obviously I just can't count either!!!! Time to go back to school. Who would have thought I was an honors student HAHAHAHA.

Okay so today was Kenpo x. The ONLY part I had problems with were the warm up stretches in the beginning. I was so stiff from legs and back, although my body doesn't hurt like last time, it was just hard, so i did my own stretches and did what I could with the crew. Overall, still a fast workout. It goes so fast because you are constantly busy, but counting the reps is what helps I think and then doing them on each side.

I burned almost 100 more calories than last week's Kenpo. Last week was 330 and today I burned 429...that's awesome to me. I have tweaked my food choices and I hope this will definitely help. I am going to try to push this...

Starting on Monday I will change up the routine by doing Plyometrics instead of cardio X. Then I will do the recovery as usual. I want to find another yoga routine so I don't have to do yogaX twice a week. Although I seem to be the only person who can actually doesn't mind this routine, 2 times a week might make me hate it LOL. I want something more tranquil, but not too easy like stretching. Then when phase 2 hits, i will do a lean doubles version. I will add 2 days of cardio on my arms & shoulders and legs & back days....or maybe on yoga day IDK yet (legs and back is still gruelling enough). Then when phase 3 comes, i will add 3 days. I hope that I see a big change in those phases. Hopefully by the time I enter phase 2 i will be 159 lbs. I am crossing my fingers. Anything is possible.

Keep pushing play!!

P90x Day 12 of 90? I think - Legs & back and AbRipperX

I was very tired today and it took everything in me to not fall out, but I did very very well today. I burned 434 on the first part and then got up to 567 calories burned with abripperX. I can definitely tell how much stronger I am getting. I do admit i skipped a part of the legs...i dont' like lunges where you have to extend your toe....both big toe nails are a little damaged and growing out so I can't do those without it causing discomfort. I did the entire wall squat. I am sure next week i'll do the 1 leg wall squat nonstop too. I am proud of my work. My ab work is getting better and I can't even remember what moves I was having issues with when i first did the work out. I will say that I can't do the mason twists nonstop yet. Maybe 2 more times thru and i'll have it. Otherwise it seems my measurements are steadily decreasing, except my legs. I hope that I start burning some good fat in my legs soon. I want those to go down at least 2 inches but if i get more i am happy. My stomach is important too...I am not worried about that as it seems to be what goes down the most.. I naturally have thicker legs.

P90x - Day 9 of 90 - Shoulders & Arms

I must say that I am not sure of how many calories i burned this time in comparison to last week because I didn't have my watch on...I had some interruptions and had to do Ab Ripper X first and then a couple hours later did the shoulders and arms (at 10:30pm). I am pleased this time as I am feeling the burn in my arms when I felt nothing last week. I am excited and so motivated to keep it going. I am getting close to being in the 150's...which would be the first time since 2003 before I got pregnant with my 2nd child.

Pleeeease P90x...i'll do the work, you just show me the way! LOL

Press play!

BTW i am going to start doing a modified version of lean and make it somewhat like the doubles...Phase 2 I will add plyometrics and do 2 days of additional cardio at my gym or do my Turbo Jam ball routine.

P90x - Day 8 of 90 CardioX

WHEW! Everytime i work out at night, it beats me over the head! I feel good though now. I did burn more calories this time around on cardiox..instead of 331 calories i burned 366, so i am happy about that. I weighed 164.4 and had 32.1% body fat, so it's still going down for both measures...I love it!

I will say this seemed a bit harder in some ways, maybe because I pushed myself to do more this time? I did more jumping on some moves and my maximum HR was 180, average was 149. I want this really bad. I want to look good for me and for my husband. When he comes home in November, i don't want him to really recognize me. I want him like "who's that girl?" HAHAHA

I am on my way! 20-25 lbs would tickle my fancy!

P90x - Day 7 of 90 Core synergistics

Okay....This isn't my favorite workout of the set, but i think it was much better this time around than what i remember last time, so that's a plus. I am getting stronger already, it's pretty impressive. I did 8 pushups this morning where as sometime last week ic ould only do 4. I did a lot of the push up moves on the dvd than I did last week, I even burned more calories. I couldn't be more pleased.

I am drinking a shake (with recovery powder) added some egg whites and extra spinach. Still tastes good and I feel good about it. I hope to start seeing some lbs and more inches drop this week. I am sure I will. I still don't have a big appetite for solids, but i am striving to make every bite or drink count and get in some healthy calories!

So my calorie burn today was 449...Max HR: 178...AHR: 147. I am feeling really good and I may switch to classic next week and add in some of my own cardio. I will see how this week ends. I am ready to bring it big time and just get into the best shape of my life!

Press Play people....

Last week's weight: 167
This week's weight: 166 (i did weigh 163.8 before i did legs & back)
Body fat last week: 32.8% (very close to at least)
Body fat today: 32% (first time since I've started working out in April 2008)

PLEASED!

P90x - Day 6 of 90 - KenpoX

I thought I was going to hate it and I loved it. I was a little tired from just life issues, but overall I can say that I am looking forward to my next round. I will step it up for sure. As of now my weight is down and so are some of my measurements...You gotta love that. I am very sore in my hams and glutes, which means muscle is building and fat is being burned.

I haven't had much of an appetite so i've had to force myself to eat or I just drink my meals. Today is rest or stretch...i choose stretch.

So i burned about 330 calories on kenpo and this one will be short.

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Day 5 - P90x - Legs & back

I think it was legs and back, i know my legs and back hurt, especially my butt. I finally burned almost 500 calories. I was supposed to do ab ripper but forgot and by the time it came on i was out of 'work out' mode. SO i will do that today with Kenpo X. I am not looking forward to kenpo cause of my cooordination, but this means it's my last workout for week 1 and I have made it and I did it. So far I can see that by week 3 i will have an appreciation for it. Right now i love the fact I am working everything, but some parts just royally suck, but only cause it's supposed to LOL. So I burned exactly 498. I weighed in at 163.8 (the lowest in a couple months) but as with all of my lower body routines, I gained 2 lbs by this morning (as i forgot to post last night) and I am sure it's all water weight from my muscles repairing. My body fat is still down so I am pleased with that. It is 32.7...I'll be so happy when i can get out of the 30% ranges.

I'll post again later ..... Press Play

P90x - Day 4 of 90 - Yoga X

I was looking foward to yoga despite the negative reviews from other P90x users based on the length and their previous yoga experiences. This was a rather difficult or "trying" routine, although I did quite well overall for my first ever yoga experience, not-to-mention a yogaX experience. Just when I wanted to stop (about 45 minutes in) the routine switches and you go to balance yoga moves. I need some more work in this department, although I think most of the difficulty is that I already think I am going to fall, and so I fall. It ends with about 25 minutes of stretching (not sure on the accuracy of that time I just mentioned) but it was nice. Within that last stretch, there are some abdominal/core strengthening moves that were not simple, but i could feel the burn immediately. This let's me know how much more I need my core to be stronger.

My only concern with the program so far is that while others are noting a 600 calorie burn, I am not even reaching 400 calories yet, and I did do this with my turbo jam ball routine. I don't think I am THAT fit to where I am not burning these calories. I am not being lazy either. I am sweating like a dog and feeling the soreness the next day. I am not sure if I should work harder, do another routine or just keep my calories a little lower than what the nutrition guide outlines (which I have been doing because of the calorie burn). I am making an effort to have my net calories amount to at least 1500 calories. I see others going down to 1200, but I don't think it's wise in the long run. Months down the road when I am used to 1200 calories, well my body rather, I know i won't go any lower in calories as that's not wise. IDK really I am he only one that matters and we'll see how this goes.

I will see what week 2 brings and maybe i will have better results as far as calories are concerned. I want to come out of this experience on top, a minimum of 20 lbs lost is what I am looking for.

I think tomorrow is Kenpo X. I will give it a shot, but i'll just say that I am not looking forward to it only because whenever I try any sort of martial arts cardio, I can't get the moves right as I am sooooo uncoordinated.

P90x - Day 3 of 90 - Shoulders & Arms and AbRipperX

Okay, so today was a day I looked forward to as I like doing weight training. This was a very good round (my husband agrees). I do, however, need to add some weights or use the bands for extra resistance because I never did feel a burn on most of the routines. Anything dealing with my triceps I felt, but my biceps are stronger than I thought. I did what I could on the shoulder routines as well. I just have to learn to pause and do the maximum amount of reps so that I can improve overall.

I received my recovery drink from beachbody. It's good and I can drink this every day. I am not an orange flavor lover nor an orange creamsicle fan, but this is what it tastes like and it's surely not bad at all. I am not a beachbody coach and I do not sell this product so this is unbiased, just the way I like reviews to be.

I also cooked the P90x nutrition guide's stirfry beef and broccoli. I love it and the kids loved it (which means this gets 2 thumbs up). I didn't use soba noodles though, and instead of regular soy sauce i used lower sodium soy sauce with some terriyaki marinade (that has the same milligrams of sodium per serving size). I didn't have rice vinegar so I sprinkled a little red wine vinegar (just a little) and even before I did that, this was a good recipe. Doing it my way resulted in less sodium, which is necessary in my diet.

So overall, I feel great. I do feel like I need to do a little more today, so I may just do my turbo jam, or just relax and do that tomorrow with my first run through the entire disc of YogaX.

I must go shower up and enjoy the rest of my night....

Total calories - 334
Shoulders & Arms - 271
Ab Ripper X - 63 (i slacked a little for the pain in my thighs was evident, for shame Pam! Last time i did this by itself i burned 165).

P90x - Day 2 of 90 - CardioX

Today was my first day of CardioX. I have sampled some of the P90x videos before, but not this one. It's not that fun, but from the moves you do (plyometrics and yoga) I know you are getting a full body work out. I have read on forums where people say this is a weak work out. And I will agree that i didn't burn as many calories as I could have on other programs, but I feel I am required to use every muscle in my body to perform some of these moves. I did 45 minutes and burned 331 calories. I weighed in lighter this morning 165.8. I am not sure why I was lighter, but that doesn't matter to me either way.

I tried making one of the P90x meals yesterday. I cooked halibut for the first time and the P90x pesto sauce. I liked the pesto (minus the pine nuts) but I didn't like how fishy the halibut tasted. I threw it away. Oh and the wild rice, YUCK!

I am looking forward to finishing up the week and then within the next two weeks I will be adding some extra cardio either by way of one of my fitness dvd's or going to the gym to spin, do a step class or one of the cardio machines. This will be my form of doubles, but the "Lean" version.

Until next time, PRESS PLAY!

P90x - Day 1 of 90 - Core Synergistics

Well I will first list my stats from yesterday's weigh in and measurements. I hope to chuck the scale and just ignore it for the first month as it won't really matter. My weight and measurements as of Sunday August 2nd:

Weight: 167.2 lbs
Body Fat%: 32.8
waist: 32"
abdomen: 38"
hips: 42.5"
chest: 35 1/2"
L. Thigh: 25 1/2"
Right Thigh: 25 1/2"
Left arm: 12 1/2"
Right arm: 12 1/2"

My goal weight after the 90 days is to be at most 145 lbs wearing a size 8 nicely. I am not too sure about my measurements, but if my thighs can go down to 23" a piece and my hips into the 30's, i'll be very happy!

So core synergistics is not a hard workout but it's not simple either. I do have some improving to do, but i am pleased overall with my performance. Once i get another week into this, i think i will add my Get on the Ball workout by Turbo Jam, it focuses on core as well. IDK we'll see. That's about all for now. I am going to make a muscle milk shake and i can't wait for my recovery drink to come in the mail!
